Yurts: AI and Knowledge Management in the Public Sector

Here at XYZ, we believe colossal value can be captured in unlocking highly regulated industries within the public sector. In today's world, deploying an LLM while maintaining security in your own environment is a difficult task. Yurts co-founders Ben Van Roo, Guruprasad Raghavan, along with CTO Jason Schnitzer flagged for us the urgent task of bringing the latest advancements in generative AI to the military’s tech stack. They described the need to do this while also meeting extensive security requirements, such as the ability to run in a fully private, secure environment, and to deploy government-specific features quickly and accurately. This need is amplified when it comes to the government's stringent standards for circulating internal confidential information. 

This insight led them to build Yurts: a full-stack, secure, and deployable platform that enables Generative AI to work with existing enterprise data stores, workflows, and applications to deploy AI quickly and securely in any environment. Yurts solves the problem of adopting generative AI across multiple use cases for existing workflows, applications, and data. All this in an easy, end-to-end deployment. 

Yurts allows government clients to centralize and connect all of their data to gain insights into their operations. Yurts helps employees create documentation and knowledge management for every subsection of their organization. It enables speed and transparency while providing simple operational unlocks: guided writing composition, fact-checking material, structured knowledge collection, and Q&A chat, all while ensuring maximum security for sensitive data. This speaks to why we were so excited to back Yurts - they’re bringing Tier 1 technology to the Tier 1 folks who run our country.

When we first met Ben through our friend Manish Patel at Nava Ventures, we were impressed by his thought leadership in Defense. Ben has followed this problem for years. Ben joined Jason, Yurts’ CTO, who had previous experience selling into the public sector from his time at Looker. This team is seasoned at listening to customer pull to design and deploy feature sets purpose-built to meet the government's demand to create an exciting modern Generative AI tool. From our experience working with public sector companies, we were able to hear first-hand how eager current leaders are to adopt the best technology. Now, they can use Yurts to make better decisions and save hours in their day. 

We are excited to announce our participation in Yurt's $16M Series A funding, led by Nava Ventures, with investments from Bloomberg Beta, Mango Capital, and Essence VC to help Yurts go to market and unroll their dual-use motion for government and enterprise use cases.
